EIEIO County Fair Day A Success
The Junior League of Cedar Rapids calls EIEIO (Expand and Improve Educational and Interactive Opportunities) County Fair Day a success. The non-profit, community-minded organization sponsored the event along with Guaranty Bank on Sat., July 28.
“We were extremely pleased with how the day went,” said Junior League of Cedar Rapids EIEIO County Fair Day Chair, Joanna Nohr. “The weather was perfect and the volunteers from both the Junior League of Cedar Rapids and Guaranty Bank worked hard to provide a fun day for everyone.”
Nearly 400 families visited Bever Park in Cedar Rapids, enjoying free games, a bike parade, face-painting, and many other activities. Children enjoyed making educational crafts for themselves and their parents, a balloon artist provided kids with a fun gift to take home, and area personalities and mascots entertained both the young and old alike. The ice-cream eating contest provided the most fun for many children as they slurped down the cool treat on the hot summer day.

In 2002, the Junior League of Cedar Rapids initiated the Expand and Improve Educational and Interactive Opportunities (EIEIO) project at Old MacDonald’s Farm. In addition to renovating this area, several new attractions and programs were added. At its completion, the farm was dedicated to the City of Cedar Rapids. The County Fair Day is held each year to showcase the revitalized facilities and to provide a free and fun activity for Cedar Rapids’ families.
Junior League worked in cooperation with the City of Cedar Rapids and sponsor Guaranty Bank to make this year’s celebration possible.
